理查德·布朗教授,1966年毕业于美国哈佛大学，获博士学位。美国康涅狄格大学人文学院前院长、历史系教授，现为该校历史荣誉终身教授。其主要著作有：《对伊弗雷姆·惠勒的绞刑：美国早期强奸、乱伦和法办的叙述》，哈佛大学出版社,2003年；《马萨诸塞：一部详细的历史》，马萨诸塞大学出版社,2000年；《人民的力量：早期美国信息灵通的公民的思维1650-1870》，北卡罗来纳大学出版社,1997年；《知识就是力量：早期美国信息的扩散1700-1865》，纽约牛津大学出版社,1989年；《现代化——美国生活的变迁1600-1865》，纽约希尔·王出版社,1976年。
