Over the past 50 years China Foreign Affairs University has turned out more than 17,000 students, among whom, more than 30 have been charged with ministerial responsibilities, more than 200 have served in the capacity of ambassadors to foreign countries, more than 1,000 have been made counsellors in the Chinese embassies abroad or directors of governmental departments or agencies other than the Foreign Ministry or professors or scholars with senior professional titles. Over the past decade, an average of 50 graduates have been enlisted into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs each year. In recent years, in-service training for Foreign Ministry’s employees and training programmes for senior diplomats have been conducted on the campus. These alumni have become the backbone force for new China’s diplomacy, foreign affairs and international studies, and have made tremendous contributions to China’s cause of diplomacy.? During the 1950s and 1960s, CFAU had trained more than 100 international students from the USSR, East European countries, DPRK, Vietnam, etc., some of whom have been put to senior positions in their respective countries or sent to China as ambassadors. In recent years, CFAU has organized many sessions of training programmes for middle-aged and young diplomats from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Central Asia and ASEAN countries or regions; more than 500 of them from more than 120 countries have participated in the programmes.
CFAU has now a total of 2,400 Ph.D., MA, BA, double-degree students, in-service students, and more than 100 international students on the campus. |
